Students who spend summer break in Chapel Hill still have access to resources, activities and services. Since on-campus services hours may change, visit each department’s website for additional information and updates.
Student Affairs
- The Carolina Financial Well-Being Center offers financial resources to improve financial well-being.
- Campus Health is open 8 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays. UNC Nurse Connect provides 24/7 support at (919) 966-2281. Campus Health Pharmacy, Student Stores Pharmacy and the Mini Clinic will maintain regular weekday hours.
- Student Wellness will offer wellness coaching, confidential substance use support and sexual health resources over the summer. Check out this interactive map for wellness spaces.
- Campus Recreation offers special hours during summer.
- The Carolina Union operates 7:30 a.m.-9 p.m. weekdays and is closed on weekends. Hours may vary during holidays and orientation periods.
Mental health and counseling services
- The Heels Care Network is a mental health web resource for our entire community.
- Counseling and Psychological Services operates with regular hours in the summer. Walk-in initial assessments are available 9 am.-noon and 1-4 p.m. weekdays. Service for urgent needs is available 8 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays or 24/7 at (919) 966-3658.
- Gender Violence Services Coordinators and Violence Prevention and Advocacy Services will be available during the summer months. Email [email protected] or call (919) 962-1343 to schedule a time to meet. For more information, visit their Campus and Community resources page.
Food services
- Carolina Dining Services: Many dining locations on campus are open, including restaurants in bottom of Lenior as well as Rams Market. Check out Carolina Dining Services’ locations and hours. Students can also use flex to order delivery anywhere on campus from Takeout Central, Brenz Pizza, Domino’s and Wings Over Chapel Hill.
- Carolina Food Pantry Network has locations around campus for students. A Chapel Hill Community Fridge will also be stocked on the 2500 hallway of the Frank Porter Graham Student Union and is accessible during the union’s operating hours. Follow chcommunityfridge on Instagram for updates.
- Visit What’s Open Downtown and information for local grocery stores.
- Interfaith-Council for Social Services in Carrboro has a community kitchen serving free meals daily, drop-in access to computers and phones, a community market with free fresh food, pantry staples and hygiene items, and emergency financial assistance.
- CORA hosts a free mobile food market at the Nature Trail Mobile Home Park in Chapel Hill 3-5 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month.
- Urban Ministries of Durham serves three meals a day.
- Durham Community Fridge is at 1902 W. Main St. in Durham, open 6 a.m.-9 p.m.

- The Writing and Learning Center offices in SASB North are open business hours weekdays. Academic coaching and peer tutoring are available when undergraduate classes are in session.
- Student Stores will remain open during summer break. Check their website for hours of service.
- University Library hours vary by facility, holidays and academic sessions.
