VA Education Benefits

GI Bill Benefits 

To receive VA Education Benefits (CH 33/35) at UNC-CH, you must: 

  1. Apply through the Department of Veterans Affairs
  1. Provide a copy of your Certificate of Eligibility letter from the VA to:

     3.       After you have been admitted and register for classes, complete and submit the electronic UNC-CH Veterans Educational Benefits Enrollment Data Form from your UNC email address. 

Parents/Spouse of Dependents 

If your dependent will be receiving benefits under the Chapter 33 Post 9-11 transfer option, they should submit a VA certificate of eligibility.

There are  step by step instructionsregarding the transfer process. Paperwork should then be emailed to [email protected] (or to [email protected] in the case of graduate students at Kenan Flagler Business School).

Veterans Readiness and Employment (VR&E)

Veteran Readiness and Employment (VR&E) (Formerly known as Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment) services help with job training, education, employment accommodations, resume development, and job seeking skills coaching. Other services may be provided to assist Veterans and Service members with independent living services for those who are severely disabled and unable to work in traditional employment. Final Exam Excuses

The Dean of Students office, including the University Approved Absence Office (UAAO), does NOT issue University Approved Absences or Final Exam Excuses for final exams or dates occurring during the final exam period. 

DO NOT SUBMIT AN ONLINE REQUEST FOR UNIVERSITY APPROVED ABSENCES FOR FINAL EXAMS.  

If you will miss a final exam due to a medical or mental health concern, family or personal emergency, religious observance, or exam schedule conflict, please follow the instructions on page linked below and communicate directly with your instructor to schedule a make-up.
