Happy Heel-O-Ween Tar Heels!

Halloween is this weekend, and there are plenty of ways for our campus community to have fun and stay safe to mark the spooky occasion. Check out parking and transportation options, and learn about possible road closures. Remember to also follow guidelines from the Town of Chapel Hill so we can celebrate in smart ways together.

Many departments — including several that are supported by Student Affairs — are offering a variety of events leading up to Oct. 31 to help you celebrate safely and have fun, too.

Campus Health

  • If you have an appointment on Halloween at Campus Health or access Campus Health services on Halloween, you’ll receive a treat bag of candy and a first aid kit. First come, first serve!

Carolina Housing/RHA

  • RHAlloween is planned for Thursday, Oct. 30 from 6-8 p.m. Including pumpkin painting, trick of treating, merch, and more.
  • Your residence hall might have some Halloween-themed programming for the week leading up to Halloween.

Campus Recreation

  • Halloween Glow Dive — Bowman Gray Pool from 8-10 p.m. Dive for glowsticks with friends, play water games, and pick out a pumpkin from their floating pumpkin patch.

Carolina Union

Join the Carolina Union for a Halloween-themed Pepsi in the Pit event on Oct 31 from 12-1 p.m. They’ll give away Sunkist (orange, grape, and sugar free orange), Halloween-themed Pepsi, and snacks. There will also be a giveaway for a cooler + Pepsi in the Pit. Students who are in costume can enter to win.

New Student and Family Programs

  • This weekend is Carolina Family Weekend! Events last all weekend long, in particular, from 6-8 p.m. on Halloween, and a men’s soccer game starting at 8 p.m.

Off-Campus Student Life

  • Party smart — register your party with Off-Campus Student Life — three days before your party date. Why? The party registration program is designed to allow student community members in single-family housing neighborhoods and apartments in Chapel Hill to regulate their parties before law enforcement intervention and to provide all community members an efficient mechanism to address loud parties.
  • Look out for Off-Campus Student Life staff on Friday, Oct. 30 outside of Pantana Bobs as part of the Good Neighbor Initiative.

Stay Safe

Check out these tips from Healthy Heels on how to stay safe this Halloween. Trust your gut. If this time of year has you feeling spooky due to competing demands with classes and other pressures, don’t forget to take advantage of the well-being resources available to you on the Heels Care Network.
