Launch Your Path Series: Military Spouses & Dependents

Time: 6:30 PM

Location: CVRC

Description: This event is for current UNC students and prospective students who are Military-Connected (Military Spouses, Dependents, Veteran Families) who are considering higher education. There is no commitment required for attending — we simply want to provide valuable information regarding the application process for UNC Chapel Hill, as well as discuss VA education benefits eligibility and available scholarship opportunities.

Current UNC Military-Connected students will learn the various resources on campus, handshake support/walk-through, and earn CLE’s. Register to attend here.

Green Zone Training

Time: 10:00 am-12:00 pm

Location: Online– Register via Carolina Talent

Description: Green Zone training is for faculty, staff, and students who wish to learn more about the veteran and military student experience. The goals are to train members of the Carolina community to know more about the unique issues and concerns veteran and military students face and to identify individuals available to assist this population. Upon completion, participants will be able to lend a sympathetic ear and help veteran and military students identify and connect with appropriate resources. Participants who complete the training will receive a placard to display in their office. You can register on Carolina Talent.

Women’s History Month Breakfast Roundtable

Time: 9:30 am

Description: Join UNC CH Veteran and Military-affiliated student community and staff to celebrate our Veteran and Military-Affiliated Women. This event is open to all and will foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of these contributions, while also providing a platform for reflection, education, and empowerment. The breakfast serves as an opportunity to honor the past, engage in meaningful conversation, and inspire future generations. Register here to confirm attendance.

Description: This event is for Rising High School Juniors, Seniors, and Current High School seniors who are Military-Connected (Military Children and Veteran Families) who are considering higher education. Burgers & Benefits Fair

Time: 11:30 AM- 1:30 PM

Location: CVRC

Description: Burgers & Benefits Fair is open to all UNC Students, Alumni, and the larger Chapel Hill Community. Come grab a burger and hang out with some Military-Connected Students. This event is a social community building event for all Tar-Heels! Veteran Benefits Administration will be onsite to assist with VA Claims. Drop by for some benefit questions, drop by for a burger, and drop by for some camaraderie with your fellow Tar-Heels! Current UNC students, earn CLEs for this event. Description: Each year, the Dean of Students and the Carolina Veterans Resource Center invites all military-affiliated graduates to the Red, White, and Carolina Blue Graduation (RWCB) where veterans, active-duty service members, National Guard, Reservists, and commissioning ROTC cadets are celebrated. Please join us to celebrate our Spring 2025 graduates!

CVRC Programming

Boot Print To Heel Print Orientation Program

The Dean of Students and the Carolina Veterans Resource Center are proud to offer the Boot Print to Heel Print (BPTHP) orientation program designed specifically for military-affiliated students each August. Newly enrolled, readmitted, or deferred enrollment students who are active duty, veteran, reservist or National Guard are strongly encouraged to attend this orientation. It an opportunity for student veterans to learn how to utilize all the great resources that are available to aid in their success at Carolina, to build skills that are needed in the classroom, to connect with other military-affiliated students on campus, and meet members of the campus-wide Veterans Resource Team.

Taco Tuesdays

Join us at the CVRC for Taco Tuesdays! These events are an opportunity to meet and connect with your fellow military connected students and enjoy some good food at the same time. We also often feature additional programming on these Tuesdays such as academic workshops, Learning Center, Writing Center, and Career Services workshops, a a self defense class taught by UNC Police, and special on and off campus guests for those who are interested.

Veterans Week 2025

The CVRC, in conjunction with the Carolina Student Veterans of America and UNC’s ROTC programs, offers a number of programs and events during Veterans Week each year. Veterans Week will take place November 2025. Keep an eye on this space for #VETWEEK25 events!

Red White and Carolina Blue Graduation Ceremony

Each year, the Dean of Students and the Carolina Veterans Resource Center invites all military-affiliated graduates to the Red, White, and Carolina Blue Graduation (RWCB) where veterans, active duty service members, National Guard, Reservists, and commissioning ROTC cadets are celebrated. The program includes the presentation of colors and our National Anthem, remarks from students and administrators, and the presentation of Military Honor Cords. Please join us to celebrate our military-affiliated graduates Spring 2025!
